“We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and education of mineralogy, paleontology and the lapidary arts. We have monthly meetings at the Delaware Museum of Natural History, just north of Wilmington, Delaware. We have speakers and programs that promote the goals of the society at each meeting. We conduct several field trips a year to fossil and mineral localities in the tri-state area and further afield. Many of our DMS members belong to other clubs in the tri-state area, creating close ties and providing opportunities for some co-sponsored field trips a year. Please visit our Field Trip page for information on upcoming field trips, as well as pictures and field reports from past trips. DMS is proud to announce our affiliation with the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS) and the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies (EFMLS). We also participate in the 'Future Rockhounds of America' Program through the AFMS.”

Field Trips

The DMS sponsors and/or participates in several field trips per season. In the past, members of the club have visited mineral and/or fossil collecting sites in Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. If you are interested

Graphite Mines of PA and Alabama

Presentation on Graphite Mines by Christopher Haefner Founder /  President LCFMC in 2014.

From Christopher Haefer

My special interest is  in researching the lower Cambrian Paleontology of  PA; the Kinzers shale. I provide colleges and Universities with museum material;  for students, for professors, for advancing their knowledge. I have done so for Franklin and Marshall College, Yale University, Geological Institute of Spain and the London Museum of Natural History.
